Marie Schmitt enrolled in class at Empire Beauty School in Pineville but dropped out after just one week.
She said classes were not conducive to learning, with some students playing loud music and talking.
“It was just a ridiculous atmosphere,” Schmitt said.
She said she complained to the staff at Empire.
“They said they would put an end to it, but it got worse. I didn't see anything done,” Schmitt said.
Schmitt was upset that Empire told her she's contractually obligated to pay more than $2,800 for the one week of class she attended.
Action 9 got in touch with Empire Beauty School. That's when an administrator called Schmitt to discuss the bill.
A school spokeswoman said they take Schmitt’s complaint about the learning environment seriously. She said they're in the process of looking into the classroom dynamics at their Pineville location.
Afterward, the school notified Schmitt it had cleared her balance to zero.
“You took action and it was swift, swift justice,” Schmitt said. “I'm very happy.”
Schmitt said she's now in the process of enrolling in another beauty school.
