Action 9: Woman says smartphone does not receive calls

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A local woman said her phone was pretty much useless because she couldn't receive any calls.

She tried getting a replacement phone from the company, but had no luck.

Carrie Tzakos has a new $120 smartphone but can't receive calls.

When Action 9 tried calling Tzakos, the phone didn't ring.

"At all, not at all. It won't ring at all. I don't get any phone calls whatsoever," Tzakos said.

Tzakos also says the Internet on her phone crashes. She got in touch with Kyocera, the phone's manufacturer.

They told her it was a software issue which they could fix within 21 days if she sent in her phone.

Tzakos refused and tried talking to a supervisor about a replacement phone.

"They put me on hold for 30 minutes. I called back again, they put me on hold for 45 minutes and I just give up," Tzakos said.

So Action 9 went online and sent an email to Kyocera's media office.

They responded within minutes, giving Action 9 a direct number to a manager for Tzakos to call.

The manager helped Tzakos do a factory reset and, after two attempts, corrected her problem.

After getting no incoming calls for two weeks, Tzakos is happy she got Action 9 involved.

"If it wasn't for you, you gave me a voice with them," she said.
