Celebrate the Carolinas' Q-culture

Charlotte’s 11th annual BBQ championship and festival is moving back to Uptown Charlotte and will celebrate its 11th anniversary with a new attitude, edgy blues headliners, craft beers, more BBQ teams than ever and the exploration of the Carolinas’ “Q-culture.”

The competition, which has a new name as well – the “Q-City Charlotte BBQ Championship”— will return to Charlotte’s main street on Friday and Saturday, October 18-19, 2013.

The Q-City Charlotte BBQ Championship is the largest Memphis Barbecue Network (MBN) sanctioned competition in the Southeast.

Internationally-renowned music group Vintage Trouble will headline Saturday night’s entertainment.  New Orleans-based The Soul Rebels, called “the missing link between Public Enemy and Louis Armstrong” by the Village Voice, will headline Friday night.  Other performances will include Tinsley Ellis and Jonathan Tyler & The Northern Lights.

The Q-City Charlotte BBQ Championship is expected to draw fans and competition teams from 700+ miles away who will descend upon the Queen City to taste and experience the best of Carolina “Q-culture” with food, craft beer, music and the biggest BBQ competition in the Southeast.

The Championship will cover four blocks along Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte, between Stonewall and Trade Streets (click here for event map).
