Mulligan's sister, Maria Parker, entered the Race Across America to assist her sister and is using the race as a platform to raise $1 million for brain cancer research.

Maria, 50, is an avid cyclist, who in the last three years has set four world records for endurance riding, including a new 24-hour world record of 469 miles, set in October.
