Grab an umbrella: Cloudy, damp start to the work week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The work week has gotten off to a pretty dreary start around Charlotte.

Clouds, patchy fog, mist, showers and cooler temperatures could be found throughout the region Monday morning.

We aren't going to see a lot of improvements throughout the afternoon either. The Carolina Wedge is holding on tight, and that will keep clouds hanging around all day with highs only in the mid-to-upper 70s.

Showers will continue to pop up throughout the morning and afternoon Monday, but rainfall totals will stay fairly low.

A front will eventually push through on Tuesday, which will bring downpours in the mountains overnight and then will move through the Charlotte area Tuesday afternoon. Heavy rain is possible in isolated storms, and some storms could be on the stronger side with gusty winds.

Conditions are looking much better Wednesday through the end of the week. Temperatures will warm into the upper 80s and the sunshine will return – but not the mugginess.

The nice weather will stick around through the first part of the weekend, with a few afternoon storms possible on Sunday.
