Cold front will bring relief to area

CHARLOTTE — Heat and humidity will be building over Charlotte for the end of the weekend. High temperatures will reach the low to mid 90s Sunday with a heat index of around 96.

Storms will develop in the mountains and foothills. They will not reach the Charlotte area.

Temperatures on Monday could reach 95 degrees in some spots. Rain chances will be the highest to areas west of Charlotte.

There will be a better chance of rain in Charlotte on Tuesday when a cold front moves in. There will also be a few strong storms.

The cold front will bring high temperatures in the mid-80s from Wednesday through Friday.
