CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

On Saturday, part of N. Davidson Street will be shut down to celebrate the completion of the first official gateway into NoDa.

The Matheson Bridge Mural, located in the underpass at the intersection of N. Davidson and Matheson streets, is the largest paint-by-number community mural in the city. The mural, which was done by artist William Puckett, tells the story of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence.

From 4-6 p.m.  on Saturday, there will be an official bridge unveiling and street party with live bluegrass music. Olde Mecklenburg Brewery will feature its limited edition Captain Jack Pilsner with a label featuring the Captain Jack from the bridge.

The May 20th Society's reenactors will also be on site, firing cannons and muskets.
