Come-See-Me Festival's 50th Festival Celebration
Parade, April 11
The Festival will kick-off with the Parade on Thursday night, April 11 at 6:30 (a move from Saturday morning). Showcasing the Five Decades of Come-See-Me, parade participants will be grouped by decade. Parade watchers may see fashions and float designs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and today!
Beach Bash, April 12
The Beach Bash is adding a shag contest with prizes. This annual street party is offers fun, fellowship and a chance to show off dancing talent.
Gourmet Gardens, April 13
This annual culinary adventure features Coca-Cola floats, popular during the 1960s, to celebrate the 50th Festival. Guaranteed to be a delightful dessert following the other delicious fare.
The activity area will feature a giant hamster ball in which all ages may roll around…in addition to the historic children’s play area.
Musical Mania, April 13
Musical Mania, a celebration of music designed for all ages, is moving from Manchester Meadows to the new Old Town Market. Scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m., a kazoo parade will process at 5 p.m.
Sundaes with Glen and Mother Goose, April 14
Come enjoy cake and ice cream fit for a king, or frog prince, at Sundaes with Glen and Mother Goose. This annual favorite will add cake to celebrate the 50th Festival.
Glencairn Garden Entertainment, April 15-18 from 12 to 1:30 p.m.; and April 15-17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Reminiscent of the first Come-See-Me Festival in 1962 and Festivals through the 1970s, local high school girls will serve as Glencairn Garden Hostesses at the evening concerts.
Broadway Night, April 18, 6:30 p.m.
Broadway Nigh, a showcase of local talent, will be held at Sullivan Middle School Auditorium (a move from Glencairn Garden) in honor of the many performances at this during the first festivals. Broadway Night will feature tunes from 1962…the year the festival began.
Come-See-Me Cornhole Throwdown, April 20, 5 p.m.
The Come-See-Me Cornhole Throwdown will be held Tailgate Party. Teams of two will compete for cash prizes awarded to the top three winners. The first round begin at 5 p.m. Teams must be registered by 4:45 p.m. There is a $40 entry fee per team.
