CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

On the third Friday of each month, the girls can come out and find their creative side at the Charlotte Fine Art Gallery. The gallery features a Girls Night Out once a month as a chance to get out, meet new people and learn a new art.

“It's a step up from the well-known girls night out you hear about,” stated Joni Purk, owner of the gallery, in an email.

Every month, there is a different instructor and classes explore another creative process. In February, Purk will be teaching oil painting on canvas. Purk is an award-winning artist, who has 30 years of experience.

Purk said the classes are also great for beginners who have never ventured into the art world, but also great for an advanced artist wanting to try a new medium.

“This is an opportunity for every woman to experience the creative process,”

Supplies are included as well as refreshments. There is no additional investment made by the participant, Purk explained, “which makes it fun for everyone.”

The classes are held at 7 p.m. on the third Friday of the month. They last between an hour and a half to two hours.

Registration is required with about a dozen people being the maximum per event.

Cost of the programs range between $30 and $35. For complete information, including how to register, visit http://www.charlottefineart.com/girls_night_out.
