Former airport manager files for appeal in embezzlement case

MORGANTON — The former manager of Foothills Regional Airport has filed an appeal in his case.

Alex Nelson was sentenced to three years for conspiracy, embezzlement and money laundering.

Our partners at the Hickory Daily Record report Nelson is one of three airport officials who have pleaded guilty.

Nelson says he filed the appeal because he has questions about the process.

He says if an attorney reviews the case and finds everything is in order he will withdraw the appeal.
