Fort Bragg helicopter crashes in New Mexico

NEW MEXICO — An Army official told ABC affiliate WTVD that a helicopter belonging to the 82nd Airborne has crashed in New Mexico.

The location of the accident is near Orogrande, just over the Texas border.

Officials say the Chinook helicopter was doing high-altitude, mountainous environmental training in the Fort Bliss training area Saturday night when it went down.

Four crew members were on board.

The Army is not releasing their conditions or identifies until all family members are contacted.

Soldiers from the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center from Fort Rucker are headed to the area to investigate.
