CHARLOTTE —

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory issued a response Saturday to the incident that occurred in a Dilworth restaurant last Sunday.

The governor wrote an editorial to The Charlotte Observer on Sunday, saying he was dining with his family when “an employee said hello with one finger instead of five.”

McCrory said these kinds of encounters happen frequently and his response as a governor is the same as it was when he was Charlotte’s mayor – a simple “Thank you for the feedback.”

He remains focused on state issues, such as bringing jobs to all 100 counties, raising teacher salaries and improving education outcomes, protecting the environment and increasing efficiency in state government.

McCrory said he welcomes feedback from people who may disagree with his solutions and that people can be passionate about issues while maintaining civility.
