Gray skies precursor to wet weekend weather

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Gray skies will linger above Charlotte Friday morning but not much rain will be falling… yet.

Temperatures will climb into the 60s Friday. The air is too dry to support rainfall but that will change as we head into the evening.

Later Friday afternoon some scattered showers will pop up – mostly south of Charlotte. There won't be a lot of rain Friday -- that will come tomorrow.

The next weather-maker will bring heavy downpours on Saturday afternoon. Some thunder could accompany the rain, but big storms are not anticipated.

Well over an inch of rain is possible Saturday for many neighborhoods.

Drier weather will return Sunday and the metro area will actually get to experience a warm-up into next week.
