Heat returns this weekend as storm chances diminish

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Friday is the day the Charlotte area will start to heat back up, and with that, the storm chances will shrink.

High temperatures will return to the upper 80s Friday afternoon and the best storm chances will be confined to the mountains.

The weekend will be steamy, with highs climbing back into the 90s. That heat will start to build heading into Saturday and Sunday.

Storm chances will diminish the next few days, with stormy weather returning by Tuesday.

A round of strong severe storms is possible by next week before a cold front brings some nice relief to the Queen City.
