Local Sales Manager

 Key Objective: Identify and drive sales strategies for WAXN TV64, WSOCTV.com, and GoCarolinas.com in order to attain revenue and share goals through development of overall direction, research and implementation of sales initiatives, project management and training. Strategize and work collaboratively with the sales management team and the entire sales organization to successfully execute the revenue development needs of WAXN.  Summary:  Under the direction of the General Sales Manager (GSM), the LSM co-directs the Local WAXN sales team. We are seeking a Sales Leader with a proven track record of success in achieving and exceeding station goals and objectives for all media platforms through

  • Strong communication and negotiation tactics with local clients and agencies
  • Effective inventory management and pricing strategies
  • Solid leadership of the Local sales team
  • Collaboration with sales leadership team, AE’s, other station departments and customers

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and performance management coaching of sales team – AE’s and support staff

  • Recruit, hire and train AE’s to achieve revenue and share goals
  • Recruit, hire and train support staff to provide assistance to the Local sales team
  • Set monthly, quarterly and annual goals for the team and individual AE’s. Track performance and determine accountability measures.
  • Develop and monitor performance accountability systems
  • Assist in accurately forecasting revenue – weekly, monthly and annually
  • Meet and exceed revenue budgets and share goals including total station, business development, digital and station initiatives
  • Manage inventory and rates to maximize station revenue in order to achieve and exceed revenue goals
  • Develop strong client relationships through in-person meetings, sales presentations and client entertainment both in the market as well as periodic travel
  • Schedule and conduct weekly sales meetings, one-on-one AE meetings, in-field sales call and additional training opportunities
  • Maintain exceptional knowledge of the Charlotte market in order to identify key strategies, emerging categories and new client prospects in order to increase overall station revenue
  • Analyze market trends, competitive initiatives and CMR data
  • Work in partnership with CMG Revenue Department and CMG Digital, as well as WSOC sales managers, AE’s, Marketing, Research, News, Creative Services on ways to continually increase revenue and market share
  • Knowledge of Excel & Power Point
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Supervisory Responsibilities: LSM position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Promotions Manager

Description

  WSOC-TV is looking for a creative, organized team player to lead the department’s promotional goals and initiatives to take the station’s brand to the next level.

The ideal candidate will have superior writing, shooting and editing skills and be able to supervise a team of producers to ensure strategic brand reinforcement in all messaging. The candidate must have experienced in multi-platform promotion: on-air, web, social and mobile.

They must be a strong communicator to work side by side the news department managers to create topicals, proofs, series and image campaigns.

The promotion manager will work closely with the Creative Services Director in forecasting, planning and executing station image campaigns, while utilizing research to determine strategic branding plans for news, weather and digital promotions across all platforms. 

The manager will also head up community involvement and intern programs and be responsible for establishing a positive and productive work environment within the department and throughout the station.

Qualifications

Minimum

• 5 or more years of television news promotions experience.

• Proficient in inews, Premiere, Photoshop, and After Effects.

• Working knowledge of Canon cinema cameras and lighting.

Preferred

• 2-3 years as a Senior Producer

Description 

 The Account Executive is responsible for generating media revenues for the assigned market to meet or exceed predetermined goals. You will also create revenues by working collaboratively with Local Sales Managers, by making sales presentations and by directly selling to key primary and secondary accounts as assigned. You will service and secure mutually beneficial relationships with various local businesses, agencies or individuals that have a desire to reach their target audience through various advertising channels and services.

 WSOC-TV in Charlotte is looking for an experienced dynamic anchor for our 5:30 pm and 10:00 pm Newscast.

 This person should have 5+ years’ experience anchoring in a Top 50 market or higher.  All our anchors are journalists. They are expected to report and front breaking news and major news events.

 WSOC has a strong emphasis on investigative reporting. Daily social media posts are expected. Anchors will also attend community events and emcee events from time to time.

You will anchor the weekend evening newscasts (6:00 pm, 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm).  During the week, you will enterprise a story for the evening news. We are the market leader and want a proven journalist who has stamina, leadership and smarts.
