CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are looking for the gunman they said walked up to a man at a northwest Charlotte bus stop Friday night and opened fire.

Officers were called to the scene just before 10 p.m. on Hovis Road near Ponderosa Street.
Witnesses told police that the victim was at the bus stop when a man approached him and shot him several times.
The gunman ran away and no description of him has been released.
Police went door-to-door asking residents if they saw anything.
The victim was talking to detectives before he was taken to the hospital with what police were calling life-threatening injuries.
No further details have been released.
