1 shot in Kershaw; deputies trying to identify men who ran from scene

KERSHAW, S.C. — Lancaster County deputies are trying to identify three men who they say ran, leaving behind their friend who had been shot Wednesday night.

A deputy said he was on an unrelated call around 6:15 p.m. on Pleasant Plains Road when he heard gunshots. He said he got into his patrol car to investigate and saw a 2002 Kia Optima speeding away.

The deputy said there were four men in the car, and one of them was firing a gun out of the window.

Authorities said the deputy pursued the car until it stopped and three men jumped out of the car and fled.

The fourth man jumped and ran toward the deputy, authorities said. The man was injured and told the deputy he had been shot.

The man was taken to the hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening injury.

Deputies have not made any arrests in the case.

Investigators said they are trying to identify the men who ran from the scene and any other people who may have witnessed the shooting and what led up to it.

The sheriff's office is also investigating another shooting Wednesday night on 16th Street in Lancaster County. Investigators said there's no indication that the two shootings are related at this time.
