104 charges issued in weekend DWI checkpoint

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and other agencies conducted a DWI checking station from 11 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday.

It was held in the 900 block of Tyvola Road near Old Pineville Road.

According to authorities, there were 104 total charges. Forty-seven were issued citations for drivers with no operators license, 33 people received traffic citations and 10 others over the age of 21 were charged with driving while impaired.

Agencies that participated included CMPD, Pineville police, Matthews police, UNC Charlotte police and Mecklenburg County ABC Law Enforcement.
