Teen girl pistol-whipped walking to park with siblings, toddlers

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A 19-year-old is in jail and 14-year-old has four stitches in her head after she was pistol-whipped while walking to a Rock Hill park with her siblings.

Brooklyn Neely said she, her sister, brother, and others were walking to Armory Park on Thursday night on Confederate Avenue, when some other girls from school approached them.

"They just came across the street, and they were ready to fight," Neely said.

Others pulled out their cell phones to record the incident as fists started flying.

At one point, witnesses said a 19-year-old grabbed a gun, and started swinging it.

"She hit me in my head with the gun three times," Neely said.

She fell to the ground as others tried to get the gun away from the woman. There were two toddlers and an 8-month-old infant in a stroller in the middle of it all.

Neely's parents, Ronnie and Carolyn Neely were horrified when their children came home to tell them what happened.

"It's just something you couldn't imagine, seeing all the blood and stuff coming down," Carolyn Neely said.

"They all came running in, trying to tell us all at once what happened. That’s when I got irate," Ronnie Neely said.

Channel 9 watched the cellphone video. In it you can see the woman with the gun, strike the teen in the head, and then take several more swings while the girl is on the ground.

Others grab her from behind, trying to get the pistol away from her.

A moment later, she walks back over to where Brooklyn is the ground, and kicks her. Police and EMS arrived, and treated her head injuries.

Neely said it started at school Thursday when another girl hit her brother in the head with a notebook. That became a dangerous situation later when that same girl saw Neely and her family walking to the park.

"It just was something so small, so silly," Neely said.

Her mother said she thanked God no one was killed.

"Any of them could have been killed, with a gun there. There were lots of innocent people standing around," Carolyn Neely said.

Late Friday, Quintasia Walls, 19, was arrested, and charged with assault and battery, unlawful carrying of a pistol and several other charges.

Bond in her case had not been set.
