2 companies to lay off more than 100 workers each

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two companies located in the Charlotte area announced that they are laying off more than 100 workers each on Tuesday.

First Advantage in Charlotte said it is closing the doors permanently.

The screening company said it is consolidating and will start separating with 113 workers in November.

In Belmont, Jo-Mar Spinning is shutting down. At the end of the month 145 people will be out of jobs.

The company spins more than one million pounds of yarn per month, but said it is closing because of lack of business. It opened in Belmont in 2010.
