Troopers identify 2 killed after crashing into construction equipment on I-85

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A driver and passenger died in a single-car crash on Interstate 85 southbound in Charlotte Saturday morning.

This accident happened on I-85 near Statesville Road and Beatties Ford Road.

A white pickup drove behind the barrier of a construction zone and hit a piece of commercial construction equipment, troopers said.

Grant Allen Miller, 23, of Mount Holly, and 25-year-old Tyler Scott Moore, of Lexington, were pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
