2 seriously injured when car collides into tree in east Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people were seriously injured after their car swerved and crashed into a tree in east Charlotte.

Emergency responders were called to the accident site on WT Harris Boulevard and Markway Drive Sunday evening.

The victims had to be cut out of the car by the jaws of life, and they were taken to Carolinas Medical Center Main with life-threatening injuries, police said.

WT Harris Boulevard was closed for hours while crews cleared the scene, but has since reopened.

Investigators are investigating the cause of the wreck.
