2 taken into custody after high-speed U-Haul chase on I-485

STALLINGS, N.C. — Two men are in custody after a high-speed chase through two counties.

Stallings police began chasing a U-Haul on Highway 74 Monday morning when they saw the van leaving the scene of a reported break-in.

North Carolina state troopers then chased the U-Haul down I-485 and Interstate 77. At one point in the chase, the moving van was going more than 100 mph.

The chase ended on Rose Ridge Road near South Tryon Street when stop sticks blew out the tires and the van spun out.

Two suspects, both black men, jumped from the van and tried to run but were caught by troopers.

The identities of the suspects have not been released.
