GASTONIA, N.C. - Police said the caregiver of a 21-year-old with severe mental difficulties will not face charges.
Police and medics responded to Oakhurst Elementary School on Monroe Road around 5 p.m. Tuesday because a man was discovered unresponsive in a van in the parking lot.
Officers said the man is mentally handicapped and had been accidentally left in the vehicle since noon.
He was OK, but paramedics took him to the hospital as a precaution.
