24-year-old stabbed, killed at Lil Wayne concert

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police in Charlotte are looking for witnesses who saw an attack that left a man dead outside a weekend rap concert.

James Price, 24, was found stabbed to death in the gravel parking lot of the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.

Police said he and his girlfriend had already had one altercation with a group of men before the concert. Afterward, detectives say the group attacked again.

After his girlfriend was hit in the head, police said James Price went to defend her and was stabbed and killed.

"We know that there are people out there that saw what was going on and what happened," said CMPD Capt. Cecil Brisbon, "But we just really haven't gotten the information we need right now."

Brisbon said the killers may have left the parking lot in a black sedan.

He said investigators are anxious to talk with anyone that was nearby at the time of the killing.

"A lot of people don't generally want to get involved in police matters but this is a tragedy. Somebody lost their life. We really need as much assistance as possible," Brisbon said.
