CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. - A 3-year-old was found wandering alone wearing only a diaper for the second time in just months.
Eyewitness News spoke with the woman in Chester County who was caring for the child at the time.
She said she was asleep early Saturday morning when the child unlocked the door and walked about a block away to a car wash on Columbia Street.
"That's an awful thing to have a 3-year-old in a diaper in this type weather," said the woman, who did not want to talk on camera.
Police said shortly before 9 a.m., a passerby spotted the boy standing in the parking lot in freezing-cold temperatures wearing only a diaper.
The man called 911 and police said when they arrived, the boy was so cold, his fingers and toes were blue.
Police have no idea how long he had been standing there but he was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
The Department of Social Services was called in and later released the boy back to his mother.
No charges have been filed and Chester police are still investigating the incident.
