37-year-old man dead after speeding, crashing in Salisbury, police say

SALISBURY, N.C. — A 37-year-old man is dead after crashing in Salisbury Sunday morning, police said.

The collision happened near North Long Street and East Kerr Street.

Officials said the man was speeding when he rear-ended an SUV. His pickup truck then hit two power poles, a tree and a fire hydrant before colliding into Chandler concrete.

Police confirmed the man died at the scene. His identity has not been released. Officials said the people in the SUV were not hurt in the crash.

Authorities believe alcohol and drug use were factors in the crash.
