Rain expected to change into snow Thursday across area

Heavy rain will continue Thursday morning, lasting well into the afternoon hours.

By late in the day though, the rain will changeover to snow.  This transition will start in the mountains first around midday, then shift into Charlotte Thursday evening, Severe Weather Center 9 meteorologist Keith Monday said.

Massive fire destroys 117-year-old museum

Firefighters were still at the Grimes Mill Museum in Salisbury Thursday morning after a fire broke out around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Part of the building collapsed around 8 a.m. and Channel 9 cameras were rolling.

Swimming coach accused of sex with student


A high school swim coach is accused of having sex with a student.

Authorities: Tip leads to one of largest pot grow operations in county history

Union County authorities say a tip call led to the discovery of one of the largest marijuana grow operations in county history.

Authorities said the homeowner, Elisandra Carvalho, allowed investigators inside the home Tuesday, where they said they discovered the entire second floor had been converted into an indoor grow room for 81 plants, plus about 35 pounds of marijuana worth approximately $235,000 in street value.

Police: Wanted man found hiding in dryer during drug bust

Kannapolis police said a wanted man hid in a clothes dryer at a home to avoid arrest.

Police arrested Kevin Baucom, Johnny Guilledge and Justin Gulledge.  Then they said they found Gary Gulledge in the dryer.
