Rain in Charlotte, snow for the mountains throughout the morning
The rain will continue steadily through midday with just scattered showers forecasted for the afternoon. The Charlotte area could even see some sunshine mixing with the showers later Tuesday. Full forecast here.


Search to resume for small plane that crashed during flight from Concord to Florida
The plane, a Piper PA-44, crashed near Brunswick, Georgia around 5:30 p.m. Monday on its way to Jacksonville, Florida. More here.


Navy: Sailor, civilian suspect killed at Va. base
Aboard a guided-missile destroyer docked at the world's largest naval base, a sailor was fatally shot and security forces killed the lone suspect late Monday, according to the Navy. More here.

 

 

 

UPDATE: 4 arrested in slaying of York Co. teen

14 dead in Washington mudslide; search continues
As the search for survivors of a destructive Washington state mudslide ballooned Monday to include scores of people who were still unaccounted for, the death toll from the wall of trees, rocks and debris that swept through a rural community rose to at least 14. More here.
