7-year-old killed in ATV accident to be laid to rest

SALISBURY, N.C. — A funeral is planned Wednesday for a 7-year-old who died in an ATV crash in Salisbury on Thanksgiving.

The district attorney still has not said whether the boy's parents will face any charges related to the accident.

Investigators said Bryce Rueger was driving the ATV when it rolled outside his home.

State law requires children to be at least 8 years old to drive in ATV.

Channel 9 took a look at the number of child deaths from ATVs since the law was changed in 2005 to restrict use to children 8 and older.

ATV deaths, while driving or riding, spiked after the law was changed, but dropped in 2010 and 2011.
