CHARLOTTE, N.C. - On Saturday nearly 8,000 soldiers and airmen of the North Carolina National Guard attended their first IDT drill weekend since the partial government shutdown.
The 145th Airlift Wing, headquartered in Charlotte, conducted normal operations during the drill weekend at Charlotte-Douglas Airport.
The 145th consists of robust capabilities such as airlift or personnel and/or cargo, aero medical patient evacuation and Modular Aerial Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) support.
The 145th has deployed all over the globe and has served extensively in combating wildfires in the western part of our nation.
