Adoptive parents of missing teen file to continue fraud case

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — The adoptive parents of missing Rowan County teenager Erica Parsons have filed motions to continue their case.

Casey and Sandy Parsons pleaded not guilty to more than 70 counts of federal fraud and identity theft.

They're accused of stealing government funds for accepting assistance after Erica's disappearance.

Her adopted brother reported her missing in July 2013 - nearly two years after family members said they last saw her.

If convicted, the couple could spend the rest of their lives in prison.
