ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Albemarle police are searching for a man after a bank robbery Monday morning on East Main Street.
A man wearing a dark-colored shirt, blue jeans, dark tennis shoes and a camouflage-colored hat with a North Carolina Tarheel emblem entered the Wells Fargo bank around 10:15 a.m.
He passed a note to a teller demanding money, officials said. The clerk gave him an undisclosed amount and he fled the bank on foot.
The man ran across Third Street toward the courthouse behind a building on Main Street.
North Carolina SBI was called in to assist in the bank robbery.
Police are asking for help in identifying the man from surveillance photos.
