ALBEMARLE, N.C. — A Stanly County man is facing several felony charges after police said he sped away from a checkpoint and threw a stolen gun out the window.
Albemarle police said they chased Cornelius Crowder just after 3 p.m. Sunday but canceled it when it got too dangerous.
An officer recognized Crowder who's a convicted felon on probation.
Investigators were able to track him down through the GPS monitor on his ankle.
