App State football players to learn next week if criminal charges will be filed

BOONE, N.C. — A district attorney said he will announce next week if he plans to file criminal charges in a sexual assault case involving Appalachian State football players.

Two sex assault cases were reported at the university last year.

The Watauga County district attorney did not file charges in the first case.

The university recently suspended three football players and a student after it found they were responsible for sex offenses and sexual misconduct.
