Arena logos change as Hornets announcement comes

CHARLOTTE — In preparation for Tuesday's official name change, the Charlotte Bobcats began branding their arena with the Charlotte Hornets signage on Monday.

On Tuesday, the franchise will hold a press conference to recognize the official name change, in which team executives will discuss the return of the Hornets name to Charlotte as well as outline some of the upcoming Hornets re-branding event.

The Hornets was the name of the city's first NBA franchise from 1988 to 2002. The NBA returned to Charlotte in 2004 as the Bobcats and played under that name from 2004 to 2014.
