Cornelius PD: Man arrested after robbing Rite Aid

CORNELIUS, N.C. — Police in Cornelius have arrested a man after they said he robbed a Rite Aid Pharmacy at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators said 26-year-old Joshua Lerner pulled a T-shirt over his head while robbing the Rite Aid on West Catawba Ave. around 3:15 p.m.

When officers arrived at the store, the thief had already drove off but police were able to look at surveillance video from both the store and from around town and obtain the vehicle's registration number.

A short time later, officers encountered the owner of the vehicle and learned that Lerner had recently used it.

According to police, clothing and other items believed to be used in the robbery were found in both the vehicle and in the residence where Lerner was staying.

Lerner has been charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is currently at the Mecklenburg County Jail on a $100,000 secured bond.

Nobody was hurt in the robbery.
