Authorities warn of aggressive door-to-door salespeople

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Residents say people are going door-to-door throughout the Charlotte area claiming to sell vacuums, but doing much more once inside.

Paul Stancil just moved into the Country Club Heights neighborhood in Charlotte and said people going door-to-door trying to sell vacuums have become more than an annoyance.

"When you're in your home, sometimes you really aren't that comfortable with people coming to your door unexpectedly," Stancil said. "They can be coming to sell vacuums, but there can be another motive."

Throughout the area, there have been several reports of people selling vacuums door-to-door. Earlier this month, residents said they visited Tanners Creek Neighborhood in Huntersville.

The vacuum salespeople visited several homes in the Mill Creek Falls neighborhood in Clover, South Carolina, according to York County Sheriff's Office.
