PINEVILLE,N.C. — Autopsy results for fallen Pineville volunteer firefighter Richard Sheltra, 20, indicated he likely died of poor air supply.
The medical examiner ruled he died by suffocating.
They initially thought Sheltra had removed his respirator exposing him to the toxic air but the report finds he did not remove his equipment and collapsed from poor air supply.
Sheltra died nearly three months ago while battling a fire inside a Pineville shopping center.
