Band of rain moves into Charlotte area

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A band of rain moved through the foothills Monday morning and into the metro by late morning.

Additional showers and thunderstorms will develop early in the afternoon, meteorologist Keith Monday said. They are expected to move east quickly, and drier weather will come in late in the day.

Clearing skies and cooler temperatures will move in Monday night, with lows in the mid-40s.
