CHARLOTTE, N.C. - For the second time this week Bank of America has announced a round of layoffs in Charlotte.
The Charlotte-based bank confirmed it cut a small number of mortgage jobs Friday, two days after laying off workers in its technology and operations division.
"These notifications have been ongoing and reflect our previously announced efforts to reduce our size, resolve legacy issues, and simplify our company for our customers and clients. Bank of America is one of the nation's leading employers. We hire and rehire thousands of people each year reflecting our strong track record for providing opportunities for new employees and helping employees transition into new positions within the company,” said a spokesman for the company.
Bank of America employs about 15,000 workers in Charlotte.
