GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A bill is being proposed in the North Carolina Senate in the name of a Gaston County 3-year-old who was killed last year.
Republican Senator Kathy Harrington, of Gaston County, introduced Jordyn's Law on Tuesday.
The remains of Jordyn Dumont were found in August near her home in Gaston County.
The bill requires county departments of social services to contact a non-custodial parent when an investigation reveals abuse, neglect or dependency involving that non-custodial parent's child.
The boyfriend of Dumont’s mother is charged in the death.
Dumont’s biological father partially blames the Gaston County Department of Social Services who asked to check on his daughter just months before she was killed.
