Board of education won't investigate former Stanly County superintendent

STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina Board of Education says it will not look into misconduct allegations against the former Stanly County schools superintendent.

Bill Josey resigned as superintendent this week.

Channel 9 investigated claims that Josey had an inappropriate relationship with a now-former teaching assistant.

The state board  sent Channel 9 this statement:

"Based on the recent issues raised in Stanley County involving two employees of the school system, it appears the concerns are of a local matter and personnel nature. The individuals involved do not hold N.C. professional educator licenses. The State Board of Education has no authority to investigate local boards of education. Therefore, the State Board of Education is unable to review this matter or provide further comment."
