Burke Co. middle school placed on lockdown after suspicious call

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Table Rock Middle School has been placed on a soft lockdown Friday morning, officials said.

School officials told Channel 9 they received a suspicious call inquiring about the entrances to the school.

The person who took the call was suspicious, so they put the school on soft lockdown.

A soft lockdown means that visitors will have to be escorted around the school.

The school is in Morganton in Burke County.

Officials said extra deputies are at the school investigating.

The school is running on a normal schedule, but officials expect the soft lockdown to last the rest of the day.
