BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Burke County deputies are trying to find a man who they say held up the owner of a convenience store Friday morning with a long gun.

Surveillance video showed the robber coming into the store and pointing a long gun at the owner. The owner cooperated with the robber who fled the scene.

The owner told Channel 9 that he works close to 100 hours a week providing for his family and comes in early to open the store.

"I lost myself,” owner Sanu Silwal said. “I lost all sense. I work more than 100 hours a week. Why don't they want to work and do a job, and get paid?"

Channel 9 was there as deputies looked around the store for possible evidence in the case.

Sarah Curtis works as a cashier at another store and said she and her coworkers take precautions but are always concerned about their safety.

"You never know,” Curtis said. “Somebody comes in a gun, what are you going to do?"

Deputies said they’ve stepped up patrols in the area as they try to find the man responsible.
