Cadet receives large scholarship during CIAA championship

The U.S. Army recognized Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association cadet Kelvin Mitchell with a $71,015 ROTC scholarship on Saturday during the first half of the CIAA championship game.

Mitchell attends St. Augustine’s University with a major in mass communication. He is from North Charleston, S.C. and attended Wando High School in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., In high school he was a member of the JROTC program.

The Army's partnership with the CIAA is an example of the Army's commitment to helping young Americans create their own path to success. Mitchell is one of more than 377 ROTC cadets at CIAA institutions receiving funds for tuition and educational fees through the Army ROTC program.
