Caldwell Co. officials advise residents to boil water

CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Caldwell County schools will be on a three-hour delay Wednesday due to a major water main break on Connelly Springs Road, according to schools spokeswoman Libby Brown.

The break was repaired earlier Tuesday but broke again.

Crews shut off water Tuesday night to the water main supplies for much of the county and worked all night to fix it.

The Division of Water Resources advises that when water is restored consumers boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.

Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.

Repairs to the pipe were completed around 6 a.m. Wednesday and crews were opening fire hydrants along the line to start releasing air pressure. The county advises residents to open their faucets to release air.

Connelly Springs Road will remain closed until further notice.
