CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carowinds is facing a lawsuit that claims the park discriminated against people with disabilities.
Matt Aldridge said he and three of his children had below-the-knee amputations because of a medical condition.
They now use wheelchairs.
He said the park kept changing which rides were deemed safe for them to ride and that workers tried to pull them off approved rides.
He's most upset about the impact on his children, Aldridge said in a statement announcing the lawsuit.
"Carowinds' decision to discriminate against them and me turned what should have been a fun family outing into a painful reminder that the fight for the rights of people with disabilities is far from over," Aldridge said. He said that the park's policy seemed to change every time they visited.
Aldridge said he's not trying to get money out of the park but instead, he wants Carowinds to have a clear policy and enforce it consistently.
Channel 9 contacted the park for comment but officials have not responded.
