Carowinds opens for 2017 season with 4 new attractions

Carowinds started its 2017 season Friday night to season pass holders, and visitors had a chance to check out four brand new rides.

The rides are part of the theme park’s new County Fair area. It’s designed to make people remember their childhood and the days at the county fair.

Channel 9 was at Carowinds Friday while crews put the finishing touches on the County Fair part of the theme park. They were hanging lights, inspecting rides and cleaning up.

Carowinds spokeswoman Laresa Thompson said County Fair is all about bringing yesterday into today.

“Brand new rides, we have four of them. We have Zephyr, Do-Si-Do, Electrospin and Rock ‘n’ Roller, and of course food. If you don’t know anything else about coming to Carowinds, or a fair, food it is,” Thompson said.

Carowinds opened to all visitors on Saturday.
