CATS holds public hearing on proposed fare increase

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A public hearing on Charlotte Area Transit System's proposed fare increase will be held on March 26 at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, located at 600 East Fourth Street.  The hearing will take place at the Metropolitan Transit Commission meeting in Room 267 beginning at 5:30 p.m.

To sign up for the hearing, call 704-432-0872 or sign up by e-mail at mtcinterest@charlottenc.gov before 3 p.m. March 26.

CATS current fare policy recommends a fare increase every two years for local bus service. "CATS is proposing a 20 cent increase in local transit fare," said Carolyn Flowers, CEO of CATS.  "This increase assists us in keeping pace with the cost of providing transit service."  The proposed fare increase also includes CATS vanpool service.
